Own 1 Hearing Aids

Oticon has just released the new Premium Own 1 platform which is their latest and best custom range of hearing devices. The range offers five different styles, from the very discreet invisible aid to larger Bluetooth enabled hearing devices. The Own 1 platform, is essentially the custom range of Oticon's outstanding More 1 platform. It uses the same Polaris Chipset and is packed with the same technology. It means that users who prefer custom in-the-ear hearing aids now have the opportunity to try the outstanding More technology for themselves.

More Access to Sound

Oticon believes that your brain needs wider access to your surrounding environment to help make sense of it. The original strategy with the Opn did that, it was noticeable to existing users, and it was very successful. The new features introduced with the More platform delivered even more access to your surroundings. The Own devices will now offer you the same outstanding level of sound access that was available with More.

Polaris Chipset

Own will be powered by their newest chipset called Polaris. After scanning and analysing the sound scene 500 times per second to understand the complexity, the device organises the sounds around you to create contrast and balance between sounds. Oticon  says in comparison to the Velox S platform such as:

• 16 times more capacity to execute advanced algorithms
• Intelligent use of industry-leading 64-channel processing
• Twice as much computation capacity and speed
• Deep Neural Network processing
• Double the precision in 1.5-5kHz frequency bands

This jump in processor power allows them to offer in-depth processing and provide a better experience.

12 Million Sound Scenes

Oticon says that they have trained the deep neural network within Own with 12 Million sound scenes so that the hearing aids can make better analysis and processing decisions instantaneously. That should mean a better experience no matter what sound environment you find yourself in.

The Devices

As I said, there are five devices available on the Own platform:

• Invisible In Canal (IIC): Very discreet device, size 10 battery, no wireless capabilities, but opitional push button
• Completely In Canal (CIC): Slightly bigger than the IIC, but still discreet, size 10 battery, no wireless capabilities.
• In The Canal (ITC): Slightly bigger than the CIC, still discreet, size 312 battery, Bluetooth enabled with optional pushbutton.
• In The Ear Half Shell (ITE-HS): Bigger than the ITC, covers half the ear, size 312 battery, Bluetooth enabled with optional pushbutton.
• In The Ear Full Shell (ITE-FS): The biggest of the custom devices, size 312 battery, Bluetooth enabled with optional pushbutton.

Hearing Aid Colours

The Own devices will be available in beige, light brown, medium brown, dark brown and black.
