Overview features Receiver in Ear Custom Models
The Resound LiNX Quattro 5 hearing aids are the latest entry-level Made For iPhone and Made For Android hearing aid technology from GN Hearing. The Quattro 5 has proven to be an outstanding device and they will deliver outstanding results even in noisier sound situations. More than that though, I would expect them to deliver a completely new experience in hearing care to you if you want it.
The entire Quattro range works on a completely new chipset and Resound has used that chipset to full effect by completely re-designing their signal processing and the hearing aid features. While they initially introduced just Receiver In Canal hearing aids, they have now released custom hearing aids on the Quattro platform.

The overall feature set of the 9 hearing aid types available is as follows, each hearing aid may not have the full range of features here
This is a unique noise reduction system that works on the basis of spectral subtraction. It reduces unwanted noise without affecting the speech signal. In the Quattro 5, it is the basic version.
The really important bit here is that it seems to do what they are saying. It is excellent on any noise that is steady state (which means recurring similarily) like engine noise, background hum of any kind. One of my web designers who wears hearing aids has seen some excellent benefits in noisy situations in particular in his car.
A high precision feedback system that allows the cancellation of feedback with extreme accuracy. The Music mode is a slower acting system which allows better handling of music.
Feedback is probably one of the most annoying things for users. The feedback system allows the amplification that you need without causing that damned irritating whistling. Having a system which also has a music mode means that your appreciation of music will be better. Sometimes music can sound like feedback, a music mode allows the system a little more time to make sure it isn't and do nothing. That means less distortion for you.
Resound Assist is the really big news for both Providers and Users. Resound Assist will allow your provider to adjust your hearing aids remotely. That means if you want adjustments on the go, they can be provided without you having to attend the clinic. The system is really easy to use and is quite intuitive. This might not be for everyone, but this feature will be a godsend for the people who love it. It will allow them complete freedom over their experience, over their customer experience.
The accompanying app also allows you to personalise your hearing experience in a deeper way. It has been re-designed to be more intuitive and easier to use and it offers real control. Again, this might not be for everyone, but for those who want it, it will enrich their experience. Again, this has to be seen as an excellent thing.

There are two Receiver In Canal hearing aid models in the Quattro range.
The LiNX Quattro RE-61 is a rechargeable direct connection, Bluetooth enabled or Made For iPhone hearing aid just like all the LiNX devices before it. It is also a Made For Android device. Resound has redesigned the wireless radio though and they say that it is more powerful than ever before. That should translate into pretty stable connection to the iPhone and Android phones.
Making it a rechargeable device makes a lot of sense, although they have used the chip upgrades to improve power consumption, a rechargeable option allows you the comfort of never having to worry about hearing aid batteries. The battery life is also fantastic, they say that you will get 24 hours of life even if you are streaming for 50% of the time, that's pretty amazing.
The charger case is worth mentioning, it is an excellent design and it carries extra charges for the hearing aids which means that you can go away for a long weekend and forget your plug happily. Although the rechargeable devices don't have telecoils onboard, if you pair a multi-mic with the devices you can get access to induction loops.
The RE-62 is a traditional zinc-air powered device that takes a size 13 battery. It has a telecoil onboard and offers a multi-functional button which acts as volume control and programme button. The device is water-resistant. This might be the device for you if you want an on-board telecoil receiver.
Resound say that the new power management system will increase the battery life of the 62 type device by 20%. We reckon that most modern 13 battery hearing aids will offer you about 5 to 7 days of use even with reasonable amounts of streaming. You will be lucky to get much more than that.
The device is also a Made For iPhone / Made For Android device and it will cover hearing losses from mild all the way through to severe to profound depending on the receiver that is fitted. While this is the only Quattro RIC with a telecoil, if you use a multi-mic with the rechargeables, the multi-mic will give you access to induction loop systems.
Resound introduced the custom Quattro hearing aids in 2019. The Quattro is available in five custom models and it has the first ever Made For iPhone and Made For Android Completely In Canal hearing aid available. Let's take a look at what is on offer:
The LTMIH is a microphone in helix custom hearing aid that is unique to GN Hearing. Because it is so small you will lose some of the benefits of the technology. However, that is always the trade-off for discretion. The device is available with four levels of receiver power, LP, MP, HP and UP which means it can cover a lot of hearing loss, in fact from mild all the way to severe to profound. Again, the size of receiver available is based on the size of your ear canal. If your canal is too small, you won't be able to avail of the higher power receivers.
The functional features of this model are as follows, it can have a push button, volume control, the devices all have smart start which gives you a couple of seconds to get it in your ear before it comes on. However, you will get the direct audio streaming from iPhones or Android phones, ear to ear communication, and wireless accessories. More importantly, you will get access to the Smart 3D app and all the benefits that it delivers to your experience. There is a telecoil on-board, however, it is only available with the MP HP and UP receiver versions. You will still lose all the directional benefits though as they only come with one mic. The battery size on these models can be 312 or size 13.
The LTCIC is slightly on the large side for a CIC, from what I have seen I would more call it an ITC (In The Canal). It is still a discrete device, because it is so small you will lose some of the benefits of the technology. However, that is always the trade-off for discretion. The device is available with four levels of receiver power, LP, MP, HP and UP which means it can cover a lot of hearing loss, in fact from mild all the way to severe to profound. By choosing discretion you do lose out on a lot of features and benefit. Firstly, there is no telecoil, something that many like. You lose all the directionality functions because you only have one mic, no Wind Guard.
The LTITC is an in the canal hearing aid which is slightly larger than a CIC. Like it's smaller brother the CIC, because it is a smaller device, you may lose some of the benefits of the technology. The device is available with four levels of receiver power, LP, MP, HP and UP which means it can cover a lot of hearing loss, in fact from mild all the way to severe to profound. The LTITE is an in the ear or full shell hearing aid which is the largest Resound Custom.
