ReSound One
ReSound announced the introduction of their new ReSound One hearing aid platform on August 18th but they officially launched them at a virtual global event on September 1st. As I said in my news article, there is a lot of new with this platform, new features, a new chip, a new normalised sound and a breakthrough microphone placement.

A Microphone in The Receiver
One of the big innovations is the new microphone placement with their M&RIE receiver. ReSound believe that with a third microphone in the ear canal that they can make use of the more natural sound cues that can be picked up there. The outer ear plays a big part in our ability to localise sound allowing us to work out where sound comes from. This plays a big part in our ability to ignore sound that we are not interested in and to focus on the sound we are.
Resound Say "The outer ear (pinna) is designed by nature to work like an acoustic antenna. It helps the brain localize and tune in to a particular sound, for example when listening to a specific voice in a crowded café. However, the most popular styles of hearing aids (Receiver-In-Ear and Behind-The-Ear models) capture sound from microphones that sit behind the ear and then approximate the effect of the pinna. The result is an averaged and incomplete reproduction of sound, making it hard for the brain to achieve its natural localization and noise-cancelling function."
ReSound say that they have worked on this for over ten years. Placing a microphone in the receiver is challenging because of the possibility of it causing feedback. ReSound has introduced a brand new feedback management system which they are calling DFS Ultra III. They have worked on this system for nearly ten years and say that the new feedback manager combined with the newly designed receivers allows them to deal with the feedback challenge.
New Directionality Modes
ReSound has also introduced two new directionality modes they are calling All Access Directionality and a user-activated Ultra focus setting. All access directionality allows you to focus on the speaker while still having access to the surrounding sound. Ultra Focus will be user-activated and it allows you to narrow the focus of the microphones in noisy situations. It will allow you to focus on the person in front of you allowing you to hear what they are saying even in a noisy sound situation. These new directionality modes will only be available in the top level of technology.
Made For iPhone, Made For Android
The ReSound ONE platform will offer connectivity options to both iOS and AndroidTM smartphones for streaming and hearing aid control.
The Hearing Aids
The new One platform will be introduced with three RIC (Receiver In Canal) or as they call them Receiver In Ear devices. They will be a rechargeable aid using lithium-ion, a 312 traditional battery aid and a size 13 traditional battery aid. They have introduced a new style of casing which while similar to their old one looks a bit more angular. The rechargeable will come with the outstanding charger case that they introduced with the Quattro, which means charges on the go if you need it.

The ReSound One platform will be available in three technology platforms, the 9, the 7 and the 5 offering a ReSound One for every pocket.

The lithium-ion cell that ReSound use has proven to be excellent. The charger case is just genius offering three full charges of the hearing aids if for some reason you forget your power lead.
ReSound One RIE 61 Hearing Aid

This is a very discreet device using a 312 cell for power. This device does not have a telecoil.

Even with the size 13 battery, this device is still a very discreet RIE. This device has a telecoil on board as well to connect to public loop systems.
Resound
LiNX Quattro
Resound announced the launch of a new premium plus hearing aid called the LiNX Quattro in October 2018. The devices are designed on a brand new chipset and they offer completely newly designed versions of their existing features. They also offer completely new features and strategies that provide a completely new sound strategy and a completely new way to handle sounds in noisy situations.
A quick run-down of the salient points:

A Lithium-ion Rechargeable Made For iPhone Hearing Aid
The LiNX Quattro RE-61 is a rechargeable direct connection, Bluetooth® enabled or Made For iPhone hearing aid just like all the LiNX devices before it. Resound have redesigned the wireless radio though and they say that it is more powerful than ever before. That should translate into pretty stable connection to the iPhone and hopefully Android phones when Android releases the new version. Making it a rechargeable device makes a lot of sense, although they have used the chip upgrades to improve power consumption, a rechargeable option allows you the comfort of never having to worry about hearing aid batteries. The battery life is also fantastic, they say that you will get 24 hours of life even if you are streaming for 50% of the time, that's pretty amazing. The device shown above is the rechargeable option, but they are also offering a traditional hearing aid battery model which is based on the RE-62 using a size thirteen battery.
Traditional Zinc Air Powered
The RE-62 is a traditional zinc-air powered device that takes a size 13 battery. It has a telecoil onboard and offers a multi-functional button which acts as volume control and programme button. The device is water-resistant. This might be the device for you if you want an on-board telecoil receiver.
Resound say that the new power management system will increase the battery life of the 62 type device by 20%. We reckon that most modern 13 battery hearing aids will offer you about 5 to 7 days of use. You will be lucky to get much more than that.
The new Mini RIE 61 is a very discreet device powered by a 312 battery. It doesn't have a telecoil but it does offer the multi-functional button which acts as volume control and programme button.
Behind The Ear Hearing Aids
Resound have also introduced three BTE hearing aids to the Quattro range the BTE 67, the BTE 77 and the BTE 88.
BTE 67: This is a wireless Made for iPhone BTE that can be used with a thin-tube or standard BTE tubing and mould. This device has a push-button, volume control and telecoil. It uses a size 13 battery.
BTE 77: This is a wireless Made for iPhone BTE that can be used with a thin-tube or standard BTE tubing and mould. This device has a push-button, volume control and telecoil. It also offers Direct Audio Input, which means it will accept an audio boot. It uses a size 13 battery.
BTE 88: This is a wireless high-power Made for iPhone BTE. The device is fitted with a push-button, volume control and telecoil. It also offers Direct Audio Input, which means it will accept an audio boot. It uses a size 13 battery.
Custom Hearing Aids
Resound have introduced four custom hearing aid models on the Quattro range. Each of the custom devices are Bluetooth® hearing aids and there are some fantastic options available with them.
CIC W Completely in Canal: This is the first-ever Bluetooth® enabled CIC, although, in my experience, it has been more an ITC size. It will connect to both iPhones and enabled Android phones for streaming of audio and phone calls. It won't offer a telecoil.
ITC DW In The Canal: This is a slightly larger wireless Made for iPhone in-the-canal hearing aid. It uses a size 312 battery and can come with an optional telecoil and programme button.
ITE DW In The Ear: This is a larger full shell wireless Made for iPhone in-the-ear hearing with an optional telecoil and programme button. It uses a size 312 or 13 battery.
MIH W Microphone in Helix: Resound is the only manufacturers who offer this style of hearing aid, it is a non-wireless small microphone-in-helix hearing device. The microphone is attached to a wire that you place in the helix of your ear. It uses a size 312 or 13 battery and offers an optional telecoil and programme button.

The Resound Linx 3D 9 hearing aids were a top of the range, Made For iPhone hearing aid technology from GN Resound. The original ReSound LiNX allowed users to adjust their own settings as they went, but with the new LiNX 3D, they can do that in a deeper way than ever and request assistance wherever they are directly from their mobile app. Their hearing professional can make all the adjustments necessary and send them to their app. Let's take a high level view of the Resound LiNX 3D 9 range
The ReSound LiNX 3D includes GN Hearing's 5th generation 2.4 GHz wireless technology and 3rd generation binaural directionality. They say it will provide users with "clear, natural sound, exceptional speech understanding and the best sense of where sounds are coming from."

More than that though, like their higher level brother the LiNX 3D 9, we would expect them to deliver a completely new experience in hearing care to you if you want it. While this has to be judged as an entry level hearing aid, it is only that in comparison with other technology levels in this range.
By that I mean this is the entry level of Resound's Advanced range of hearing aids. They have a more basic range as well separate to the Made For iPhone ranges and always have. So with that said, let's take a look at what they have to offer you.

Enzo2 9 Hearing AIds
The Enzo2 9 is the flagship level device in ReSound’s superpower hearing aid range. Like the Linx2 9, it has 17 frequency channels for fine tuning within. It also uses their latest feedback prevention strategy DFS Ultra II to provide the highest amplification without the hearing aid whistling. The hearing aids are packed with advanced features to ensure the important speech sounds. They will attack background noises and wind noise. The device use a particularly clever system to ensure that they adjust themselves automatically to the environment you are in.
While the device is a high power hearing aid, Resound has ensured that the Enzo2 9 is one of the smallest super power aids available. Resound uses iSolate nanotech™ coating to protect the components in the aid from dust and wax and moisture.
Enzo2 7 Hearing Aids
The Enzo2 7 is the mid-level aid in the superpower hearing aid range. Resound have done something a little different with their mid range products, it has 17 frequency channels which is exactly the same as the top of the range devices. It also uses the same anti-feedback system to ensure that you get the amplification you need.
However, the device has a reduced feature set which means you will miss out on Autoscope Adaptive Directionality, Binaural Directionality and Binaural Environmental Optimizer II. They have also reduced the effect of the Noisetracker II and Windguard features aren’t quite as strong.
Enzo2 5 Hearing Aids
The Enzo2 5 is the entry level superpower hearing aid in ReSound’s latest range. Although it has a lower specification and 9 channels rather than 17, it still has the same high power output as the other models.
The aid has the same effective feedback prevention (DFS Ultra II) system, providing the highest highest amplification in the industry, without the hearing aid whistling. This hearing aid is ideally suited to those with severe to profound losses who do not spend much time in noisy or windy environments.
As with the other devices in the range it is a tough and durable aid and it has been specially coated to repel wax, moisture and dust.
Updates to the Smart app
One of the biggest problems for individuals with hearing loss is hearing speech in noise and wind. New personalization options within the app that are only for ReSound LiNX2 users includes sound enhancement features to better personalize these difficult listening situations.
Improved Surround Sound
Surround Sound by ReSound has been around for a while. Surround Sound is ReSound’s system for processing sound which helps users determine the direction sound is coming from, and automatically alters the output of the hearing aids to match the acoustic environment. In the LiNX2, ReSound have introduced a new improved Surround Sound system. The feature has been greatly improved with the introduction of Binaural Directionality™ II, and an all new feature, Spatial Sense™. Binaural Directionality™ was utilized in previous ReSound products, like the Verso, and the original LiNX, but its second generation is now available in the LiNX2. Spatial Sense is a brand new feature focused entirely on helping you as a wearer localize sound and have a better spatial awareness. In order to take full advantage of the new Surround Sound system , you’ll have to invest in the LiNX2 9 in the BTE or RIE style.
Personalize your hearing experience with the Resound Smart app
If you own a ReSound smart hearing aid like the Linx, The Enzo2 or Linx2, the ReSound Smart™ app will enable you to discreetly fine-tune your hearing aids to your own taste. The app works with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. It also now works with the Samsung Galaxy S5. Support for other Android devices will improve this year with more and more devices being added.

Resound BE – Remote microphone hearing aids?
What's it all about? GR Resound devised the remote microphone hearing aid to offer a discreet hearing aid solution that enhances localisation of sound by incorporating the microphone into a notch of the pinna (the main ear part we see), whilst the main body of the aid sits inside the ear canal. This device is not for everyone, but enhances the Resound hearing aid portfolio, giving them another string to their bow.
The Resound BE is available only in charcoal black and beige – this is because it sits deep into the hollow of the ear canal and only needs to blend into the shadow on the ear. Very easy to insert, comfortable and high performing. The Resound BE is now available in custom-shell as well, meaning we can fit them to power losses, making the Resound BE an all -round performer.

The Enzo2 9 is the flagship level device in ReSound’s superpower hearing aid range. Like the Linx2 9, it has 17 frequency channels for fine tuning within. It also uses their latest feedback prevention strategy DFS Ultra II to provide the highest amplification without the hearing aid whistling. The hearing aids are packed with advanced features to ensure the important speech sounds. They will attack background noises and wind noise. The device use a particularly clever system to ensure that they adjust themselves automatically to the environment you are in.
While the device is a high power hearing aid, Resound has ensured that the Enzo2 9 is one of the smallest super power aids available. Resound uses iSolate nanotech™ coating to protect the components in the aid from dust and wax and moisture.
Enzo2 7 Hearing Aids
The Enzo2 7 is the mid-level aid in the superpower hearing aid range. Resound have done something a little different with their mid range products, it has 17 frequency channels which is exactly the same as the top of the range devices. It also uses the same anti-feedback system to ensure that you get the amplification you need.
However, the device has a reduced feature set which means you will miss out on Autoscope Adaptive Directionality, Binaural Directionality and Binaural Environmental Optimizer II. They have also reduced the effect of the Noisetracker II and Windguard features aren’t quite as strong.
Enzo2 5 Hearing Aids
The Enzo2 5 is the entry level superpower hearing aid in ReSound’s latest range. Although it has a lower specification and 9 channels rather than 17, it still has the same high power output as the other models.
The aid has the same effective feedback prevention (DFS Ultra II) system, providing the highest highest amplification in the industry, without the hearing aid whistling. This hearing aid is ideally suited to those with severe to profound losses who do not spend much time in noisy or windy environments.
As with the other devices in the range it is a tough and durable aid and it has been specially coated to repel wax, moisture and dust.
Updates to the Smart app
One of the biggest problems for individuals with hearing loss is hearing speech in noise and wind. New personalization options within the app that are only for ReSound LiNX2 users includes sound enhancement features to better personalize these difficult listening situations.
Improved Surround Sound
Surround Sound by ReSound has been around for a while. Surround Sound is ReSound’s system for processing sound which helps users determine the direction sound is coming from, and automatically alters the output of the hearing aids to match the acoustic environment. In the LiNX2, ReSound have introduced a new improved Surround Sound system. The feature has been greatly improved with the introduction of Binaural Directionality™ II, and an all new feature, Spatial Sense™. The Verso™ Custom RM Models
The RM or Remote Microphone style of hearing aid is exclusive to Resound. The uniqueness lies in its design, ReSound have moved the microphone out of the hearing aid to the top of your outer ear. Allowing it to receive sound the way your ear does. The line up comes in three models and most of them have the option to include controls for changing settings.
With the housing in the ear and the microphone in the rim of the ear they almost become invisible. The models are suitable for people with mild to severe hearing loss
The Verso™ Custom Models
The Resound Verso™ Custom Models come in several form factors of differing size all the way down to their smallest the IIC (invisible In Canal)which is designed to completely disappear into your ear canal. Resound BE – Remote microphone hearing aids?
What's it all about? GR Resound devised the remote microphone hearing aid to offer a discreet hearing aid solution that enhances localisation of sound by incorporating the microphone into a notch of the pinna (the main ear part we see), whilst the main body of the aid sits inside the ear canal. This device is not for everyone, but enhances the Resound hearing aid portfolio, giving them another string to their bow.
The Resound BE is available only in charcoal black and beige – this is because it sits deep into the hollow of the ear canal and only needs to blend into the shadow on the ear. Very easy to insert, comfortable and high performing. The Resound BE is now available in custom-shell as well, meaning we can fit them to power losses, making the Resound BE an all -round performer.
